Welcome to the St James Town Community Cafe's new website!

The Cafe has been growing over the last 3 years, bringing members and community together to share healthy local food, learn about food related issues and socializing. We are now ready to expand our reach by communicating online!

We intend to use this website to inform the community about upcoming events, local-to-global food issues, health tips, recipes, opportunities to volunteer, and more. The website forum is an online space where community residents and Cafe members can dialogue about issues and ideas.

In the coming weeks and months we will be working to establish the St. James Town Community Co-operastive, focused on food and health related projects such as organizing Cafe events, setting up a local food buying club, education for community building, and other projects the St James Town community may wish to create.

New volunteers are very welcome to get involved and become members. Members can earn time credits for their efforts from the Uplift Community Credit Exchange (see UCCE at and exchange these credits ("Tiyos") for services and goods offered by other UCCE members.

We look forward to meeting more of our neighbours and expanding our membership over the spring and summer... please feel free to join our online forum and share your ideas, comments, health tips, community concerns, and even your favorite healthy recipes.

Please include your name and email address when accessing the forum; we want to be able to contact you about new developments and events.

We know there are many highly educated and talented people in St. James Town, and hope that the Café, our website and the upcoming Community Co-op can help bring all this talent together to help make our community a better and healthier place for us all to live and grow.

Best wishes for our unique and vibrant community!

Josephine Grey,
for the The St. James Town Café Coordinating Committee
